Rosa David
FIELD
Campus ministry changed Rosa’s life and challenged her to grow deeper in her relationship with God. It provided her with unshakable friendships, a deeper understanding of God’s will and purpose, and evidence of God’s love and compassion in the world and on the college campus.
God blessed Rosa with an opportunity to serve on the State University of New York - Buffalo campus, to spread His word and bring others out of the darkness of this world into the light that only God provides.
As an intern with Campus Ambassadors, Rosa has a heart for freshmen, because the world can sway them very easily and she’d like to “grab hold” of them in their early years of college, in the midst of their new-found freedom.
As a freshman in college, Rosa says, she was swayed by the world and it was by the grace of God that she was able to leave the darkness of the world and have a desire to be in God’s light.
Rosa loves college and is still finding it to be an interesting and unique time in her life. It is an entire culture unto itself, and within that culture there are worldly expectations. College students have a lot of pressure on them to succeed, but their motivation needs to be analyzed. Worldly expectations can cripple and blind people from what God wants for them. This is something that Rosa has struggled with and continues to pray about.
FAITH
Rosa was raised in a church-going family and was baptized at the age of 7. She did not develop a deep and personal relationship with God until her sophomore year in college, which she refers to as her spiritual transformation. She has always believed in God and accepted Jesus as her Savior, however her relationship was very superficial and she did not trust God with her life nor live a godly life.
Her arrival in Buffalo for college was the beginning of that spiritual transformation. Her church had introduced her to the idea of quiet time with God, and trusting God with every aspect of life. Her relationship with God has gone from saying she’s a Christian to actually striving to live for Christ. It was as she was baptized as an adult believer that she truly embraced her faith and proclaimed to the world her commitment to Him. Rosa considers it a privilege to serve and worship God and is so grateful for her heavenly Father.
FAMILY
When Rosa is not living on campus, she lives at home with her mom and their two cats, Stormie and Kobe. She has an older brother who is developmentally delayed and a little cousin whom she thinks of as a little brother.
