FIELD
In 1987 Otto graduated from the Central American Theological Seminary, followed by a year of study in education at the Francisco Marroquin University.  

Through a classmate Otto was introduced to missionary N.T. Dellinger, who recognized his commitment and servant's heart. Otto joyfully accepted N.T.’s invitation to plant a church in Belize. Otto and Rosa were appointed in 1990 by Missions Door as church planters. 

Returning to Guatemala in 1992 because of Rosa’s health, they and their five daughters began the work by starting Sunday schools, children's and women's ministries and discipleship and leadership training.  

By early 2002, Otto, Rosa, and their family, along with a growing team of 250 leaders, had planted 24 churches.  

On December 5, 2007 the de la Cruzes will celebrate 15 years of ministry in Guatemala and 30 churches planted for God’s glory. The fields are white unto harvest, and Otto’s goal is to establish an association of churches with a testimony for commitment and faithfulness. 

FAITH
Otto de la Cruz was born in Guazacapán, Santa Rosa, in the southeastern region of Guatemala, where his parents worked on a cattle ranch. Sent to school in Quetzaltenango, his host family led him to Christ at 14.   

Earning a degree in Public Accounting in 1975, Otto went to work for several companies, but he began to sense God's call to ministry. His pastor asked him to minister to four families in Villa Nueva, and the work quickly grew to a church of 150 members.  

He and Rosa, along with the church elders, started seven churches.   

FAMILY
Otto married Rosa in Guatemala City in 1972. Those five daughters are Sicelly, Lilian, Ruth, Loidy and Rosa.
