Jackie and Bob Mayo
FIELD
Jackie’s passion in ministry is breaking down the walls that separate students from each other and from God. She feels one of the worst things is seeing a Christian believing Satan’s lies about themselves instead of God’s truth.
Jackie served at Hartwick College and SUNY Oneonta during her staff training, where she focused her efforts on the female college students in discipleship and small groups. After completing her training, Jackie directed the campus ministry at Nichols, and in 2006 changed ministries to become the director of the Worcester State College Campus Ambassadors. As part of the Worcester State ministry, Jackie now runs the CA House, which is home to not only her, but up to 9 students, as well. Jackie mentors, supports, and trains them to live in community and learn life skills.
FAITH
Jackie is originally from southern New Jersey where, at a young age and after the divorce of her parents, she accepted Christ as her Savior to fit in with the rest of the youth group. After that she spent three years trying to gain the approval of others before realizing that God’s opinion is the one that really matters.
In high school Jackie joined a small prayer group that grew into a large Bible study ministry. It taught her a lot about God, Christian leadership, and herself.
She attended Hartwick College in Oneonta, New York, and discovered Campus Ambassadors there. She graduated in 2002 but then felt God leading her to intern with CA.
Through her intern year, Jackie could see that campus ministry was where God wanted her. She was appointed by Missions Door as a Campus Ambassador in June 2003.
