Kristy and Adolfo Ocampo
FIELD
When Kristy was 16 she began working at a camp called Sunshine Acres, where she was able to minister to kids and youth of inner-city New York. It was there that God began to call her heart to full-time ministry.
In 2001, at a missions conference called Urbana, she knew God was calling her to serve Him in a foreign country. After much prayer she came to Mexico City to work as a teacher for missionary children. Kristy was appointed with Missions Door in 2004 and taught missionary children for six years at the Instituto Metropolitana Estrella in the southern part of Mexico City before meeting Adolfo and becoming a wife and mother.
She and Adolfo have become youth pastors in the church they attend together in Tlalnepantila, a suburb of Mexico City. They are responsible for all youth, from junior high school to the singles ministry. Together they conduct biweekly youth worship services and take the youth on service projects at a nearby orphanage, as well as teach Sunday school and organize retreats and Christmas cantatas! Their lives are full of young people, and their hope is to disciple them and bring them to walk in a deep love relationship with Jesus.
FAITH
Kristy accepted Christ as her Savior when she was 6 years old, but did not really understand what it meant until she was 16. That year, at a youth retreat, she realized that God wanted much more than just to save her from her sins, but He desired to have a real, living relationship with her. She began spending time with Him each day through prayer and reading the Word, and saw God begin to work in her.
Adolfo came to trust Christ as his Savior at the age of 15, when a friend from junior high school shared the Gospel with him. After discipleship with his pastor, he began using music ministry to reach youth, and besides the ministry with the youth groups, he is preparing for the future by attending seminary.
FAMILY
Kristy grew up in a Christian home in New York. Kristy and Adolfo Ocampo were married in April 2010. They have a son named David.
