Ruth Palnick

Chaplain - Hospice
US - Northwest
Specialized Ministries

FIELD
Ruth recently left Phoenix, Arizona, and moved to Spokane, Washington, in order to be closer to her family and supporting churches and individuals. God immediately opened doors of ministry in the continued work of Hospice chaplaincy, where Ruth strives to share the Gospel of God’s grace with patients and families facing the end of life.

Desiring to have more opportunity to move from straight evangelism into discipleship, Ruth is also spending one day a week as Protestant chaplain at a rehabilitation/care center.

An additional day a week finds Ruth listening, counseling and teaching classes at an inner-city women’s drop-in center. One hundred homeless and often troubled women pass through the center every day, and Ruth is there to build trusting relationships that she hopes will lead to spiritual sharing.

As serious issues with Ruth’s health arise, she remains grateful for the strength God gives and the prayers of her faithful supporters who “Rejoice with Ruth” in the Lord’s enabling power that allows her to carry on in this glorious work!

FAITH
Ruth accepted the Lord at age 5. Seeing a medical career as a means of sharing the Gospel, she studied nursing at Seattle Pacific University, graduating in 1975.

Over the next 12 years she worked on cancer units and taught nursing until God reawakened her heart to His original call to missions.

After graduating from Western Seminary, Ruth was appointed by Missions Door and spent the next eight years in Honduras. Ruth focused her first four years in evangelism, discipleship and the training of church leaders by teaching Theological Education by Extension.

Ruth’s last four years in Honduras were spent in the red-light district of Tegucigalpa, giving physical and spiritual care to Hondurans with HIV/AIDS. At the end of 1998, Ruth began experiencing some serious physical problems and was forced to return to the States.

FAMILY
Ruth grew up in a Christian home.
