FIELD
In 1983, José finished an industrial technology degree with a concentration in production and quality control. He worked in this area for many years at a local factory in Santo Domingo where he was a supervisor.
But in 2004 José felt a strong passion to work with poor people and a call from God to dedicate his life to serve Him full time. The very next year José registered as a student at the Baptist Theological Seminary in Santo Domingo, where he is in the process of getting formal ministry training. He was also appointed by Missions Door in 2005 to start a new church in Villa Hermosa, a very poor neighborhood of Santo Domingo.
The Rodriguez’s desire is to start a new church that would bring hope to people who live in the midst of extreme poverty. They are trying to have a ministry that not only takes care of the spiritual aspect, but also people’s physical needs.
FAITH
José was born in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. He grew up in a Roman Catholic home. In August 1998, he accepted Christ as his personal Savior. Before he received Christ, he felt that his life had no purpose and he had many failures that almost cost him his marriage.
When he accepted Christ, his family also accepted the Lord and joined Centro Cristiano Bendicion Church in Las Caobas, Santo Domingo, a local church started by Missions Door missionaries.
FAMILY
José is married to Carmen and they have three children: Franklin, Yissel and Eriner.
