FIELD
Martin and Lisette have been involved in the planting of a new Spanish-speaking church in Broward County in Florida, which is one of the fastest-growing Latino counties in the nation. There are about 300,000 Latinos living there, which is 18 percent of the entire population of the county.
With Acts 16:9—“Come…and help us!”—as a theme of their ministry, their goal is to establish a new church that will bring change and healing to this community.
At the moment there are more than 12 Latin American nations represented at the church, and many people are coming to know Christ because of the ministry.
FAITH
Martin grew up in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, in a non-Christian home. In 1978, his brother, Joaquin, accepted the Lord as Savior and shared the Gospel with him. Soon he was working in door-to-door evangelism and as a Sunday school teacher.
Martin was a businessman and was not interested in working in ministry full time, but he was a committed lay preacher and volunteer.
In 1991 the Dominican economy crashed and many businesses were struggling, so they decided to move to Miami and start their quest for the American dream.
It was in the United States that Martin was able to advance from delivery boy of a Tony Roma® Restaurant to becoming one of the owners. While Martin was very busy with his business career, he always had time to preach and teach Sunday school classes, and he and Lisette helped to plant three Latino bilingual churches in Broward County, Florida.
In 2004, Martin and Lisette decided it was time to dedicate their lives to full-time ministry, so they launched a new church and became missionaries with Missions Door.
FAMILY
In 1987 Martin married Lisette. Omar and Lisa, and they live in Hollywood, Florida.
