Bill and Linda minister among the members of Faith and Hope Baptist Church in Providence, Rhode Island. He is an associate minister at the church and he also directs the Urbacad (Urban Academy) discipleship program. They were appointed by Missions Door in 1990.
Bill grew up in Maryland, the youngest of five children. His family didn’t always take him to church, so he didn’t hear the Good News of the Gospel until he was 14.
He and his grandmother were invited to a church that practiced what they preached. They showed him the love he’d been looking for, and God began to work to draw him into a personal relationship with Himself. After six months of attending that church, Bill decided it was time to accept the sacrifice of Jesus, and he prayed to receive Jesus as his Savior and Lord.
As he was attending junior college, he felt the call to ministry. He transferred to Washington Bible College, where he received a B.A. in Bible.
He also took courses at Capitol Bible Seminary for a short time. There he began to put feet to his faith and began ministering at the Central Union Mission in Washington, D.C., where he stayed for five years before the Lord led them as a couple to Providence, Rhode Island, and Faith and Hope Baptist Church.
Linda grew up in a family of six children in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She attended church on a regular basis with her family. She heard the Gospel often, and responded by accepting the Lord at Vacation Bible School at the age of 10.
When she turned 16 she recommitted her life to the Lord at an Easter youth retreat. As part of her church’s youth ministry leadership, she ministered in nursing homes and taught children’s church. God was preparing her for her future ministry to children as well as elderly.
Bill and Linda have been married since 1989 and have two children: a daughter Abigail and a son Bill Junior. They are all active in the church.
