Mark is the Director of City Church Movements for Missions Door. Based in New York City, he leads a team of men and women from many cultures, races, nationalities, language groups and generations to serve Christ in the cities of the United States and beyond.
Mark facilitates the work of urban church planters, specialized evangelists reaching unique people groups, those developing leaders for city churches, and missionaries seeking to be where people hurt most in the city.
As a young child Mark was led to Christ by his parents, the children of Russian immigrants. During his senior year of high school, while considering an athletic scholarship to Rutgers, God called him to Christian service.
During ministry at an inner-city church the Lord confirmed Mark’s call to the city. In 1975 he was appointed by Missions Door to serve in New York, leading eventually to his current position as category director.
While raising his support Mark met Karen Bixler, who had been saved as a child and served the Lord with her musical abilities as a teacher.
Mark and Karen were married in 1977 and have two children: Alena and Aron.
