Rachel Gober

Missionary Profile

Ministry Focus

Rachel passionately serves with Signs of Love. Signs of Love brings language and the truth of God’s love to Deaf individuals around the world. Rachel was moved by this ministry when she first served with them in 2011. This sparked in her a passion for the Deaf and according to the World Association of the Deaf is the largest unreached people group in the world. Rachel has a deep love for sharing the Gospel despite language and literacy barriers. When the Lord opened the door to serve full time with Signs of Love in 2016, she eagerly packed her bags and went. Rachel now serves Signs of Love as their stateside advocate, illustrator, and art therapy specialist. She also serves as team leader for international trips to serve Deaf communities around the world. Her mission is to equip Signs of Love and its global partners with the materials necessary to effectively share the gospel with low language unreached Deaf people around the world. She believes art is an invaluable tool for low language individuals because language isn’t needed to express oneself through art and to experience God’s healing power. Since she joined Signs of Love she has seen how illustrations of biblical truths can powerfully influence people’s lives and hopes to continue making God’s truth understandable despite lack of language.

Faith Story

Rachel began following Jesus in the 7th grade and was transformed with the joy, hope and love of the Lord. Her youth pastor and mentor saw in her character a gifting for missions. Through the leadership of her youth group, she served in her community, school, and eventually overseas. Rachel knew foreign missions would always be a part of her life but it wasn’t until college that she felt the Lord calling her to serve long term. As a college student, Rachel served in Haiti and India with short-term trips. She felt the Lord calling her to have a love for the nations and unreached people groups, especially the Deaf.

Throughout Rachel's walk with the Lord He has been patiently teaching her that missions is a lifestyle. It is not wanderlust. It is loving His people and sharing the Gospel whether in Honduras, Peru, or the United States. It is going out your door to make His name great, no matter where your door may be. As Rachel has said yes to going she has seen how faithfully God has provided for her and used each moment to mold her more and more into a better servant of His Gospel.
