Ministry Focus
Gabriel serves as a pastor and ministry leader in Québec, where he is involved in theological training, church development, and leadership formation. His ministry focuses on equipping local churches and leaders to be deeply rooted in the gospel, faithful to Scripture, and engaged in mission within their cultural context. Through his work with SEMBEQ, Gabriel helps develop and support training centers that aim to raise up pastors and leaders across the province. This includes mentoring, teaching, and contributing to strategic initiatives that strengthen the church’s presence in both urban and regional contexts. His vision is to see a growing network of healthy, gospel-centered churches in Québec, led by well-equipped leaders who are committed to making disciples and advancing the mission of Christ locally and globally.
Faith Story
Gabriel comes from a Catholic background in Brazil, but it was only at the age of 21 that he truly encountered the gospel and came to know Jesus personally. From that moment, God began a profound transformation in his life, giving him a new purpose and a deep desire to serve Him.
At the time, he owned a technology company, but as Gabriel discerned God’s calling to ministry, and he made the decision to sell the business in order to fully dedicate his life to serving Christ. During that same season, Dagmar and Gabriel were dating, and they both sensed a clear and shared calling to missions.
After they got married, God led them to move to another city so Gabriel could pursue theological training. In the years that followed, he's served as a church planter and pastor in Brazil, while also teaching in a seminary and coordinating its extension department.
Over eight years of ministry, God blessed them with two daughters and continued to shape their calling. In 2021, the Lord called their family to serve as missionaries in Québec, where we now invest in theological education and leadership development in close partnership with local churches. Their desire is to see pastors and leaders equipped to serve faithfully within the local church, contributing to the health, growth, and multiplication of gospel-centered congregations across the province. They have been deeply encouraged by what God is doing in Québec, and believe He is raising up His church not only to reach this province, but also to participate in His mission among the Francophone world.
Family
Gabriel is married to his wife, Dagmar, and they are blessed with two daughters. As a family, they have been serving as missionaries in Québec since 2021. They love Jesus and are grateful to serve Him through the local church.
Before entering full-time ministry, Gabriel worked in the technology field and owned a company, which he later sold in order to pursue pastoral ministry. Over the years, his experience has included church planting, pastoral leadership, and theological education, all focused on equipping leaders to serve the local church.
As a family, the Lauters enjoy spending time together, going for walks, playing with their dog, and enjoying games. They are grateful for the opportunity to serve Christ together in Québec and to participate in what God is doing through His church.
Education
Gabriel is originally from Brazil, where he completed his academic and theological training. He first earned a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. Later, after sensing God’s call to ministry, he completed a Bachelor’s degree in Theology as well as a Master’s degree in Pastoral Theology.

As prosperity welcomes diversity, nationals and immigrants create a multicultural mosaic
Despite a reputation for arctic snow and ice, Canada also encompasses the beauty of the Great Lakes and Niagara Falls, as well as boreal forests, mountain ranges and the world’s longest coastline. Northern Lights often set the winter skies aglow.
Canadian society fosters respect for different nationalities that create a colorful mosaic of distinct multicultural traditions.
An increasing number of immigrants now call Canada home, in addition to descendants of Aboriginals and European settlers. Cities like Vancouver and Toronto are at the heart of this quickly changing demographic, as people from all over the world seek the opportunities of a prosperous and progressive country.
Canada faces its share of modern societal problems, especially tensions between different ethnic and language groups, and pockets of poverty and unemployment. During the last 20 years, religious participation among Canadians has declined as younger generations report attending services less frequently than do older generations.
Your participation with Missions Door enables pastoral training, leadership training, church planting and social outreach to strengthen the influence of Christianity in Canada.
Cultural Snapshot
As a variation of stick and ball games, ice hockey developed significantly due to its popularity in Canada, where the first indoor hockey game was played in 1875 in Montreal.
Faith Fact
One in five native-born Canadians report attending services at least monthly. Immigrants are twice as likely to attend.
