North Fair Oaks Community Empowerment

Project Profile

Ministry Focus

We invite you to support our efforts to transform a long-neglected part of Pasadena, California — a place where people speed past on their way to somewhere else, not noticing how God is at work. We are resurrecting hope in this high-crime, low-income Latino and African American community.

The North Fair Oaks Empowerment Initiative’s three phases have included surveying 150 of the local residents, business owners and church members to learn of their concerns and dreams, and plan the NW Jobfest (with over 500 in attendance, many applying for jobs).

Now we are focused on creating a “complete street” where a lane is closed, parking is changed from parallel to angled, adding tiny pocket parks and bike lanes. Our goal: Once again men and women of ripe old age will sit in the streets of Jerusalem, each of them with cane in hand because of their age. The city streets will be filled with boys and girls playing there. Zechariah 8:4.

Much of Jesus’s ministry took place in the street. In the process of creating a street of safety and hope, we are all being transformed.
